Description of the Card

In a tarot reading, The Empress can be seen as The Priestess, now mature and fruitful.  She is sitting on a cushion, showing her still passive nature.  Yet, she may also be looking over a field of blossoming plants and crops or there will be lots of growing things all around her.  Wheat, in particular is a symbol of her fertility.

The river of life may be shown somewhere in the image along with a heart or the astrological symbol for Venus, signifying physical love.  She does after all sometimes indicate a pregnancy.

She holds a scepter or a wand, indicating her position in life.  She is The Empress, feminine, fertile and creative.

Special Advice: This somewhat passive card in a tarot reading indicates that you will be unable to take action at this time to move something forward.  You may in fact need your rest, so take it.  Even though The Empress rests, she is surrounded by abundance and creativity, so take note of what you have coming in for it will serve you well in the long run.
