Caring For Your Tarot Card Decks
When it comes to caring for your brand new tarot card deck, you’ll find that there are several different schools of thought. You can really get caught up in the research on this one, but for many tarot lovers this is just another fun aspect of the practice. What do you believe? Part of how you care for those tarot card decks is all about what you believe in concerning the decks. Some feel that the decks are inhabited by spirits that can be friendly or bad based on how they feel about you and how you treat them. Others feel that the tarot card decks are a useful psychic tool that can channel your own knowledge of the future and the question. Plus, there are all manner of beliefs in-between. If you genuinely feel like your tarot cards carry a bit of spirit in them, then go ahead and treat them as such. If you feel like they are just a fun game to pull from the closet on Halloween; then feel free to do so. I feel that the cards are imbued with a sense of whatever you believe most strongly. Basic Care of the Tarot Card Decks There are a couple of helpful basic guidelines you can follow for your tarot decks to properly take care of them or just add a little mystical atmosphere to your game. It’s recommended and just plain practical to have a bag to keep your tarot card decks in. Most decks come in somewhat flimsy cardboard which will disintegrate after awhile. Traditional school of thought says that you should get a bag made from natural materials instead of man-made. So forget about the polyester and go for a nice cloth bag. This way the spirit of the tarot cards can come and go unimpeded. Make the bag yourself or pick one up at the store. I have one tarot deck in a small purple cloth bag that I sewed together in about five minutes and another in a shiny gold man-made bag. So, tradition is nice but it’s not required. You should also have a special area set aside to keep your tarot cards in. This can be their little home when you aren’t using them. Most people keep them on a shelf in a special place. You can keep your other esoteric related items on the same shelf with your cards, such as incense, candles and your tarot interpretation books.
