The Death Card in Tarot Courses

The Death card is the 13th card in the Major Arcana.  Many students when they first turn up The Death card in their tarot courses presume the worst.  This card does not indicate your own death or the death of someone you know and love.  It is simply a precursor of an ending or something coming to an end.  Never tell anyone that they are going to die simply because The Death card shows up in your layout.

The number 13 breaks down into the number 4 in numerology.  This is a very solid number and indicates a good foundation on which your efforts have been built.  Here is where you ideas have manifested.  When the numerology is applied to The Death card, your efforts are nearly ended and a new pattern is about to begin.

The Meaning of the Card

Anyone taking tarot courses will learn that The Death suggests one pattern or situation will end, while another begins.  This can be a good indicator that a bad situation will end soon and something better is coming.

The ending applies to any situation, whether it be in love or in a career.  You may be having trouble with the turmoil caused by this transition.  It can create feelings of depression, anger and frustration.  However, you should keep in mind that from the ashes of the old pattern something new and exciting will arise.

Description of the Card

In your tarot courses you’ll find that the images on the Major Arcana cards are quite helpful in interpreting their meanings.

The Death card shows a skeleton in armor riding a white horse.  He can literally be seen as Death.  Sometimes the horse has just trampled a King who lay dying.  This shows that Death affects everyone.  The horse is pure and show spirituality.

Death also carries a banner with a rose, which represents life force.  There may also be a source of water shown in the card.  It may be flowing water like a river, which represents the cyclical nature of life as water flows from the river to the sea, evaporates into the clouds and rains back down again.

Special Advice: Over a period of time you’ll experience some changes.  A situation will end and a new one begins.  Let go of the old situations with joy in the experience of something new coming.
