The Chariot in Offline and Online Tarot Reading

The meaning of The Chariot is the same whether you are doing an online tarot reading or an offline tarot reading.  It is the 7th card in the Major Arcana and symbolizes an attempt to balance two or more areas of your life and a period of solitude.  In numerology the number seven, refers to introspection and faith.  In a reading, it indicates that you may be seeking the ultimate truths in life.  This is a card that pops up when faith is most important; by having faith in the unseen you’ll have what you need to continue on.

The Meaning of the Tarot Card

Online tarot readings usually give a brief description of tarot cards, usually in a few descriptive words.  Descriptive words for The Chariot can be;

  • travel,
  • action,
  • introspection,
  • status quo and
  • faith.

Since The Chariot is a vehicle of movement, this card may very well be indicating a move or travel in your future.  It can also mean that you will be moving in the same direction for awhile, sometimes struggling to balance two almost opposing forces.  You could be stuck, trying to decide if you should take one action or another, but unable to do either and so you move along in the status quo.

Use this time to focus on your affairs and try to decide how you’d like to deal with the issues you are balancing at a more appropriate time down the road.  You can also look for unexpected gains with The Chariot or advantages that may not be immediately visible in your seemingly unchanging motion.

Description of the Card

Most online tarot readings will present you with a picture of the cards in your reading.  However, here is a basic description of the symbols that will be fairly common in all the different tarot decks out there.

The Chariot is shown being guided by a young man, who is likely to be a prince.  The Chariot is being pulled by two opposing forces, usually a black horse and a white horse.  However other creatures can be pulling The Chariot, such as a pair of Sphinxes.

Above or around the young man are stars.  They represent his eventual victory.  The path that the young man is on must be true or else the two forces he’s balancing would pull The Chariot apart.

Special Advice:  Although your life doesn’t seem to be changing dramatically yet, you are making progress towards your goals.  Work hard and keep balancing the areas of your life.  You’ll find success and relief in time.
